Position Objective:
The part-time 1:1 Preschool Para-Professional will support the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development of a student with disabilities or specialized learning needs. Working under the supervision of a licensed special education teacher and/or school administrator, the 1:1 part-time Para-Professional will assist in implementing an Individualized Education Program (IEPs), reinforcing instructional activities, and providing personal care and behavioral support as needed. This position exists to promote student growth, independence, and inclusion by helping create a structured, safe, and nurturing learning environment that meets the unique needs of each learner.Responsibilities:
Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives and meeting IEP GoalsCollects data for the purpose of progress monitoring and supporting teachers in the classroomAssists and escorts student when necessary for the purpose of attending to the student's personal hygiene and care needs and arrival to/from destinations Attends meetings and inservice presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functionsImplements under the supervision of assigned teacher, research based interventions for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning conceptsCommunicates with supervising instructional staff, and a variety of health care professionals, and professional support personnel for the purpose of communicating progress and/or implementing IEP objectivesMonitors student's daily schedule and behavior plan (e.g. class schedule, toileting, medication, appetite, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environmentPerforms other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the workProvides, under the supervision of the assigned teacher, instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objectives implementing IEPs and ensuring student's success in schoolSupervises individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environmentAddresses personal care needs of students as necessitatedPerformance of other job-related duties as assignedRequired Qualifications:
Minimum High School DiplomaMust pass a pre-employment criminal background checkPreferred Qualifications:
Prior experience working with students with mild/moderate to severe disabilities in an educational or therapeutic settingFamiliarity with special education practices, including implementation of IEPs and behavior intervention plans (BIPs)Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), or other structured behavior management approachesAbility to provide personal care and physical support to students, including lifting, positioning, or assisting with mobility and daily living skills when requiredTraining or experience in crisis prevention and de-escalation strategiesStrong collaboration skills Patience, flexibility, and resilience in supporting students with intensive needsCommitment to fostering dignity, independence, and inclusion for all learnersSalary & Terms of Employment:
In accordance with the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District Educators Association Collective Bargaining Agreement. Employment is contingent upon job performance, program needs, and funding.Hourly Rate Range:
