Cotting School is hiring a 1:1 Special Education Classroom Paraprofessional for one of our students with complex needs. About the

Position:

Program Assistants will work in a classroom setting with a lead teacher. Our classes have 8 or fewer students and have 2 teaching assistants per class. In this classroom, you will be responsible for the 1:1 care of a student with complex needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assist teachers with the instructional program as requested. 2. Work assigned student in the classrooms and throughout the program as directed. 3. Accompany student in various specials throughout the day including gym, art, performing arts, industrial arts, vocational classes, science, and social studies. 4. Escort student in corridors wherever necessary and during arrival and departure times. 5. Assist with lifting and transferring student in/out of wheelchairs, standers, and gait trainers. (training on this skill will be provided) 6. Safely assist in feeding assigned student as directed. (training on this skill will be provided) 7. Assist with personal care if requested. 8. Work with classroom and vocational staff on community trips or off-site jobs depending on program level (van driving is required and training on this will be provided) The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
