Job Overview:
Paraprofessionals assigned to Special Education Programs with intensive needs will be eligible for an annual pay differential that will be $2000 additional annual salary. This will be distributed to the hourly rate of the salary placement of the individual. To be eligible for the pay differential, the involved staff with the associated district programs will have district funded RBT training (40 hours asynchronous class w/BCBA oversight) to complete within the time frame directed by the constraints of the class. Some FULL Day and Early release PD time could be used for this. Responsibilities of a
Behavior Specialist Paraprofessional:
The Behavior Specialist Paraprofessional:
Is primarily responsible for the direct implementation of treatment plans related to skill acquisition and behavior reduction Assist in delivering behavior-analytic services and practice under the direction and close supervision of a BCBA Collaborate with team members to determine which modifications, accommodations, and assessment approaches are necessary to allow students to succeed Work with a team to support students in an academic environment Collect data across different skills and behaviors on a daily basis Implement and oversee student behavior plans Promote generalization of students' acquired skills Assist the BCBA in implementing behavioral programming Create an environment that is conducive to student learning Direct and assist with toileting and toilet training as it pertains to individual students' needs Differentiate instruction and provide appropriate opportunities for learning using the MTSS framework Meet and instruct assigned students in the locations and at the time designated Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum standards and establishes clear objectives which reflect these standards for all lessons, units, and projects Implement the district's mission, philosophy of education, and instructional standards and objectives Document the progress and/or concerns of students and seek the assistance of additional district specialists as required Monitor and supervise students, through effective classroom management Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement Be responsible for using innovative approaches, and instructional strategies including the effective use of technologies, to increase student learning and confidence to learn Follow professional practices consistent with the district's policies in working with students, parents, and colleagues; Attend and participate in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings and activities according to school policy Maintain and improve professional competence through attendance at professional development events, and by self- generated activities that meet district expectations and the requirements for recertification Strive to maintain and improve professional competence especially as relates to the specific assignment and student grade and subject area appropriateness Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, colleagues, and parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of assigned students Promote equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning, including, implementing specific strategies for students with special needs, with 504 plans and/or English Learners Perform other duties that may be assigned by the building principal or Director of Student Services
