Summary:
This position is responsible for students' supervision during the lunch period. Implementation of positive and consistent expectations will provide both emotional and physical safety to each individual student.
Role Responsibilities:
Supervises students in the cafeteria during lunch periods in serving lines, while eating, during outdoor and indoor recess and cafeteria dismissal Escort students to lunchroom, restrooms, lockers and nurse's office, as necessary Dismiss students from lunch in an orderly fashion Assist students with lining up and monitor behavior when students receive their lunches Direct safe movement of groups of students to and from recess area, which may include walking through parking and bus loading areas Encourage students to engage in appropriate recess activities, recommend activities as necessary and maintaining an orderly recess environment Assist staff in lunchroom clean-up Wash lunchroom tables and provide general clean up between lunch periods and after the last lunch period each day Ensure play equipment is used safely and notify the building principal of any equipment in need of repair Familiarize students with and enforce a set of appropriate and expected behavioral guidelines and consequences during lunch and recess time Reports all student accidents and/or incidents to the supervising teacher immediately or as soon as possible Additional duties may be assigned
Job Requirements:
High School Diploma (or equivalent) Ability to work with adults and children in a positive manner Ability to supervise large groups of students Must be dependable and punctual Ability to regularly lift a minimum of 10 pounds and up to 25 pounds as necessary Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
Physical Working Conditions:
Work involves student interaction, and is performed indoors, and outdoors, in all weather conditions. Extended periods of standing, walking, bending, and stooping are required.
