Position:
Instructional Assistants Organizational Scope:
Instructional Assistants reports to the building principal and works at the direction of the classroom teacher under the Student Services Department. Through a lens of equity, provides students assistance in classroom and school activities consistent with their needs and the specific role of the Instructional Assistant. IAs may support inclusion classrooms, in special programs or in the regular curriculum. Position Responsibilities:
Supports academic development by providing appropriate instruction and learning experiences for each individual or small group of students, as self-initiated and or as directed by the classroom teacher.
Presents skills and tactics that support success in content areas.
Utilizes a wide range of teaching strategies, materials and resources.
Works closely with the teacher(s) to coordinate classroom work and homework.
Supports instruction and learning for each individual or small group of students as self-initiated and or as directed by the classroom teacher.
Implements assistive technology, if needed.
Facilitates interactions between students
Attend training workshops as assigned, and participate in school-based staff development.
Assists with implementing behavior intervention.
Assists with mobility, transitioning and personal care as needed.
Physically manage students, if needed;
May provide other duties as required.

Job Qualifications:
High School Diploma required, Associates or Bachelors Degree in education preferred. Prior experience highly desired, with qualifications as a Paraprofessional according to DESE standards. Must be willing and able to physically manage students if needed. Classroom experience and college degree preferred.
Physical Demands:
The physical requirements of this role vary based on assignment and the age of students served. In general, the position involves the ability to move throughout the classroom and school environment, including standing and walking for extended periods on hard surfaces. The role may also require occasionally lifting or moving items up to 25 pounds, as well as bending, reaching, and repositioning as needed.
Work is primarily performed in a classroom setting and typically involves light physical activity. The environment includes regular interaction with students and staff, varying room temperatures, background noise, and frequent transitions or interruptions common in school settings. The position also requires the ability to use a computer and standard office equipment to support instruction and communication.
Salary in accordance with the Unit C Salary Scale https://www.nrsd.net/page/nrsd-contracts. Candidate review begins immediately.
Terms of Employment, Evaluation of Performance, and Salary:
The Instructional Assistant is a Nashoba Regional School District Unit C position. Terms of employment, including evaluation and salary, are covered by the provisions of the Unit C collective bargaining agreement currently in effect.
