Teaching Assistant:
You are passionate about education and want to make a difference in the lives of our students! Join us as a Teaching Assistant in one of our three schools where you will have a direct impact on the lives of students with complex disabilities and visual impairments. You will play a crucial role in supporting our educators and helping our students succeed. We have flexible schedules available to meet your needs! Promote Independence and Development:
Encourage self-confidence and growth by providing direct assistance and support in independent living skills, classroom activities, and personal care. You enjoy building positive relationships that will assist our students in managing their behaviors and foster social and communication skills.
Foster Positive Relationships:
Build meaningful connections that assist students in managing behavior and developing social and communication skills. You demonstrate an understanding of the general curriculum as well as the expanded core curriculum by supporting and implementing IEP goals and objectives which help students achieve their educational milestones. You are detail oriented and can maintain accurate records of student progress and performance by evaluating and documenting learning outcomes You take initiative by proactively engaging students in activities that meet their individual developmental needs and can effectively communicate their progress with colleagues and other team members. You are compassionate about fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported and are motivated to learn. We have straight day shifts in our Lower School and DeafBlind School or Day/Eve Shifts in our Secondary School The following shared salary range is what Perkins reasonably expects, in good faith, to pay for the position. The applicable range could differ based on experience and qualification. $17.68-$28.18
Education/Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent required, Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred Experience working with students with special needs , either in a classroom setting, through volunteer work or in another professional setting preferred Willingness to complete and maintain First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Safety-Care Training, Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and Sign Language (dependent on program needs) Valid driver's license and willingness to drive school vehicles preferred but not required
