Immediately Job Description Webster Public School is seeking qualified applicant to fill Paraprofessional positions specifically working with our students that require additional behavior or academic support. The paraprofessional will also work with students with social and emotional needs. Individual will support students under the direction of a Special Education Teacher in independent, enrichment and/or remedial work assigned by the teacher. Will work in cooperation with the student's team to support academic, behavioral and/or social emotional needs.
Job Description and Goals:
Instructional Assistants, working under the supervision of an assigned licensed teacher, may assist in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of students as well as monitoring and reporting student educational progress to the supervising teacher.
Assistants may also:
a.

Assist with classroom management, such as organizing instructional and other materials. b.

Provide assistance in Library, Technology, Art, Physical Education, and Music. c.

Assist in other activities outside classroom such as recess, assemblies and field trips. d.

Perform additional duties as directed by the school principal such as lunch, recess and dismissal duties. Instructional Assistants should understand and accept the supervisory and instructional authority of the supervising teacher under whose professional licenses they work. Instructional Assistants should demonstrate professional behavior in all aspects of the school community.
Performance and Responsibility:
Help supervising teacher to implement strategies and procedures to maintain safe, supportive and inclusive learning environments. b.

Assist the supervising teacher in implementing learning strategies, prompting procedures and other systematic instructional procedures. c.

Help to implement various developmentally and age appropriate strategies and to use materials and technologies to facilitate student learning and to accomplish instructional goals. d.

Help to implement teacher developed plans and strategies that enhance fluency, maintenance and generalization of academic skills. e.

Support the supervising teacher in keeping students on task and focused. f.

Assist teacher in monitoring student progress regarding academic performance / cognitive development, social development and behavior. g.

Using various teacher developed assessment tools, assist teachers in documenting information about student's strengths, needs and performance. h.

Support students in the maintenance and modeling of acceptable classroom behavior. i.

Maintain confidentiality of all students. j.

Present teacher prepared lessons in a small group or individual student setting. k.

Assist in the administration of student testing. l.

Assist the regular / special education teachers with the implementation of students' IEPs. m.

Collaborate with teachers on the planning of instruction for individual or small groups. n.

With training, assist with the necessary personal care needs of an individual student. This may include but is not limited to; toileting care, feeding requirements, prolonged standing / transfer needs as required in a student's IEP. o.

Meet regularly with the regular / special education teacher to discuss student's progress.
