Potential future earnings for this position on the ESP Salary Scale are $21.60 - $39.08. Additional steps will only be considered for PreK-12 teaching experience under state-issued professional licensure. 7 Hours/Day, 10-Month Work Year Reports to Building Administrator Employee Benefits Summary Role Overview The ML Bilingual Achievement Para is vital in helping newly arrived Spanish-speaking multilingual learners (MLs) succeed in MCAP-assessed Math and ELA classrooms. The majority of time (at least 70%) is dedicated to bilingual academic support that reinforces classroom instruction, while up to 30% focuses on building school-home partnerships through consistent, structured family communication. This role bridges language and academic gaps by working closely with teachers, counselors, and school teams. It also supports the implementation of ML accommodations as outlined in the ML Lau Learning Plan. Spanish-English biliteracy is essential for success in this position. Minimum Requirements High School Diploma/GED. Highly Qualified status (AA Degree, 48 credit hours, or passed the Paraprofessional Praxis Exam. Multilingual proficiency in Spanish and English. Cultural proficiency includes knowledge, skills, attitudes, and beliefs that enable all stakeholders to feel welcomed and supported in a cross-cultural setting. Effective oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish. Excellent interpersonal skills. Punctuality, regular and predictable attendance are essential functions of this position. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting MLs in Math and ELA Knowledge of content-based language instructional strategies Skilled in creating bilingual learning resources Build relationships with ML families during arrival and dismissal through scheduled check-ins, conferences, and outreach. Translate and share school communications in Spanish (e.g., newsletters, event flyers, testing updates). Support families in navigating school tools like ParentVUE, Google Classroom, and other platforms to monitor student performance. Role Responsibilities Welcome and assist visitors to the school with a positive and helpful attitude. Answer and route phone calls, emails, and other communication in a professional and friendly manner. Provide language interpretation and translation services to facilitate communication between non- English-speaking parents and program staff. Provide support and complete projects assigned within the front office. Open and distribute incoming written communication and voicemails daily. Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all aspects of office business and assignments. Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools. Perform other related duties as assigned.
