Job Description

Contractual Special Education One on One Instructional Assistant These are non-benefitted, contractual positions which do not provide employee benefits.

Salary$19.25 per hourHours10 months, 35 hours per week
Minimum Qualfications:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, students, parents, and associates.

Ability to use classroom and instructional equipment.

Ability to operate audiovisual equipment, standard office machines, and word/data processing programs.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using the English language when deemed necessary.

Excellent organizational and self-starter skills.
Responsibilities:
Assist teacher or other professionals to achieve instructional objectives.

Work with students in small groups, or 1:1, on a specific concept/skill according to the students' skill level.

Assist with large group activities, field trips, and other special programs/activities for students.

Work with individuals or small groups to reinforce material introduced by teacher.

Provide programmed practice activities and repetitions as developed by teacher or therapist.

Escort students to special classes and therapy.

Guide independent study and other work assigned by teacher.

Assist students with mobility needs, assist with loading and unloading buses.

Reinforce appropriate behavior by following classroom teacher/case manager expectations and student's behavior plan (if applicable).Report student behavioral needs to the classroom teacher/case manager.

Report student problems to teacher and assist with student problems.

Assist with breakfast, lunch, snack, cleanup, lavatory, clothing, personal hygiene, and wash-up routines.

Other duties as assigned at the discretion of the building principal and/or supervisor.
