Job Description

The Teacher Assistant is responsible for providing overall assistance to the teacher during school hours. Areas of assistance will be in the delivery of therapeutic service plans, instructional systems, and lesson plans for school-age children.
QUALIFICATIONS
90+ college credits & an Education Technician Certification through Maine Department of Education preferred. Obtain and/or maintain Maine state certification as a paraprofessional. Some experience with acute emotionally challenged children or adolescents preferred. Must possess basic personal computer knowledge and skills. Clerical or other light office experience preferred. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must possess a valid driver's license.
JOB DUTIES
Assist the teacher with instructional planning and implementation, maintaining and keeping accurate student records, setting up activities, and any other duties deemed necessary by the teacher. Support implementation of the behavior modification system and provide crisis prevention techniques within the classroom. Provide supervision whenever necessary. Demonstrate care, compassion, respect, integrity, truthfulness and ethical behavior with kids as well as interactions with other staff members throughout the facility. Demonstrate skills in the areas of relationship building, appropriate boundaries and role modeling with children. Communicate all relevant client information obtained by daily supervision to appropriate treatment team members on a timely basis.
