Job Description
Some people walk into a room and the energy changes. Residents smile. Someone who's been quiet all morning starts tapping along to Sinatra. A hard afternoon turns into a good one. If that sounds like you, we'd love to meet you. What is Journeys? Journeys is our memory care program, built for people living with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. It's not about filling a calendar with bingo. It's about giving each resident a day that feels familiar, calm, and full of purpose, whether that's folding laundry, baking cookies, tending plants, listening to music from their twenties, or just sitting together and talking. As a Journeys Program Assistant, you're at the heart of that. You're not watching the clock. You're making people's days better.
Are you the person who can get a whole room singing? Why you'll love this job You'll make a real difference, every shift. You'll see it in the smiles, the laughs, and the moments when someone feels like themselves again. You'll get to be creative. Music, art, sensory activities, reminiscing, movement, technology. If you have an idea, we want to hear it. You'll know your residents. Our memory care neighborhood is small and home-like, so you build real relationships, not a checklist. You'll learn and grow. We train you in dementia care and engagement, and we promote from within. Flexible schedules. Full-time and part-time shifts available. What you'll do Lead and support group activities and one-on-one time with residents Set up activity spaces and get materials ready so every program runs smoothly Keep the day calm and consistent, because routine brings comfort Help residents move between activities and parts of their day Use music, sensory items, and technology to spark engagement Let the Director of Journeys and the care team know how residents are doing Welcome families and share the good moments with them What you bring High school diploma or equivalent A big heart, lots of patience, and a good sense of humor Experience in activities, caregiving, or customer service is a plus (1-2 years preferred) Experience with people living with dementia is a bonus, but not required. We'll teach you. Reliability. Our residents count on seeing familiar faces.
