Level 1 Paraprofessional (Special Education-Resource Room)
Part-Time Location:
Duncan Lake Middle School Reports To:
Building Principal Compensation:
$15.78 per hour (or more depending on experience), 27.5 Hours per week/183 Days per year.

As soon as available Position Summary The special education (SE) paraprofessional assists the teacher in meeting the instructional needs of students with learning disabilities and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including self-help, behavior management, and instructional programs. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Under the supervision of a certified teacher: Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by certified staff. Assists the certified staff in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities. Monitors work and supervise curriculum-based testing and makeup work as assigned by the certified staff. Performs clerical, classroom maintenance, and instructional duties as assigned by the certified staff. Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in the school environment and community. Plans instruction techniques and methodologies and prepares lesson materials based on assessments of individual students and their needs. Administers assessment tests and interprets results to identify student needs Records and reports assessment data to teachers and school administrators; completes required forms, reports, and other paperwork. Instructs and reinforces core subject learning strategies. Tutors students in one-on-one or small group settings in all curriculum areas. Meets with teachers to discuss students' goals and progress and discuss additional interventions. Provide Personal Care , which includes toiletting, feeding, and medication administration as needed. EDUCATION
This position requires the attainment of a high school diploma or equivalent. College course work is desired, but not required. Knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics is essential.
EXPERIENCE
Previous experience working with students or individuals with disabilities is preferred, but not required. Assists in the transfer of students to and from wheelchairs, lifting, or positioning. Lift up to 50 pounds.
