Summary:
This position's responsibilities are to assist elementary students in assigned classrooms. This position provides further reinforcement of skills as prescribed by the teacher and supervises students as they complete lessons delivered by the teacher.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or two years of academic study at a postsecondary institution, preferred, or minimum of high school diploma with ability to meet highly qualified Every Student Succeeds Act requirement (i.e., Successful Work Keys Test), required.
  • Ability to develop/maintain a professional rapport with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • Clear criminal history check, physical, and drug test, required; first aid training.
  • Alternatives to the above qualification as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide assistance and support to the students by reinforcing instructional lessons delivered by the teacher in small group settings or to a single student.
  • Able to effectively present a re-teaching of a lesson to a single student or small group of students.
  • Follow through with teacher-directed classroom management plans and district discipline policies.
  • Meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines with flexibility and attention to detail; demonstrated ability to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public, staff, students, and families.
  • Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies while modeling district standards of ethics and professionalism; implement policy/procedural changes from administration, the Board of Education, or state/federal changes.
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of this position, which includes sitting, standing, extensive walking, twisting, talking, seeing, and hearing. Occasionally, it will be expected to repeat the same body, hand, arm, or finger motions many times and push or lift up to 50 lbs., such as boxes of books.
  • Performs other functions and duties as assigned by the supervisor.
