Job Description

Position Summary:
Weymouth Child Development Center is seeking a nurturing, dependable, and enthusiastic Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our early childhood team. The Assistant Teacher will support the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, loving, and developmentally appropriate environment for children ages 3-5. This role is ideal for someone passionate about early childhood education and eager to make a positive impact during this critical stage of development.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in implementing daily lesson plans that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. Support classroom routines, including transitions, meals, nap time, and outdoor activities. Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment in accordance with licensing standards. Foster a warm, inclusive atmosphere where all children feel valued, supported, and encouraged to explore and grow. Supervise and engage children during play, learning activities, and group projects. Model and support appropriate behaviors using positive guidance techniques. Communicate positively and professionally with families, staff, and children. Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and participate in ongoing professional development. Assist with documentation of children's progress, behavior, and developmental milestones as directed by the Lead Teacher. Step in to help manage the classroom in the Lead Teacher's absence.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Coursework in Early Childhood Education or Child Development preferred. Experience working with preschool-aged children in a group setting is strongly preferred. A warm, caring, and patient demeanor with a strong interest in working with young children. Ability to follow directions, work collaboratively, and take initiative when needed. Must meet all state and local licensing requirements, including background checks and health screenings. CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
