A Teacher Assistant assists classroom teachers by providing extra individual attention and instruction to students. Helps teachers with recordkeeping, preparation for lessons and activities and supervising students. May work with special education students, or work in a school library or computer lab; may be called teacher aide or paraprofessional.

Starting at $17.25/hour -Pay commensurate with experience

Schedule:
7 hours/day, 5 days/week, 182 days/years
Qualifications:
  • Proven record of excellent attendance
  • Ability to work as a team player
  • Self-initiating
  • Work under the direction of certified staff
Job Responsibilities:
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations, flexibility
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Willingness to be trained and to perform minor medical procedures
  • Willingness to assist students with toileting
  • Ability to assist with academic coursework
  • Willingness to learn, to grow as a professional
  • Willingness to be trained in and implement CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or other district behavior modification plans
  • Willing to work in the community or alternative sites
  • Ability to follow student(s) academic and social plans
