Aug 17, 2026 Job Description Elementary Reading Paraprofessional The Elementary Reading Paraprofessional supports classroom teachers and reading specialists in providing targeted literacy instruction to students. This position assists with implementing reading interventions, monitoring student progress, and fostering a positive learning environment that promotes reading growth and academic success. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide individual and small-group reading support under the direction of certified teachers and reading specialists. Provides literacy support in push in and small group pull out models. Assist students in developing foundational literacy skills, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Implement reading intervention programs and instructional strategies as directed. Support classroom literacy activities, guided reading groups, and independent reading practice. Monitor and document student progress and communicate observations to teachers. Prepare instructional materials and organize literacy resources. Assist with student assessments and data collection related to reading performance. Encourage student engagement, confidence, and positive reading habits. Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and records. Supervise students as assigned during instructional and non-instructional periods. Participate in professional development and training opportunities related to literacy instruction. Establish a supportive and positive learning environment that encourages struggling readers and builds their literacy confidence. Support schoolwide reading initiatives. Assist with family workshops and trainings to build the home/school connection in best practices in reading. Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal, classroom teacher, or reading specialist. Terms of Employment Per CESPA contract
