This role assists in creating a positive learning environment, reinforces lesson plans, and provides individualized or small-group support to help students succeed academically and socially. Key Responsibilities Assist teachers with classroom instruction and daily activities Provide one-on-one or small group support to students Reinforce lessons and help students understand concepts Support students with special needs, including behavioral or physical assistance Monitor student behavior and help maintain a safe, structured classroom environment Assist with classroom management and organization Prepare instructional materials and classroom resources Supervise students during lunch, recess, field trips, and transitions Track student progress and report observations to the teacher Support students with personal care tasks if required (depending on role) Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (associate's degree preferred) Experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team Patience, empathy, and a supportive attitude Paraprofessional certification (preferred) Work Environment School or educational setting May involve standing, walking, and assisting students physically Interaction with students of varying academic and behavioral needs Skills & Competencies Classroom support and organization Behavior management techniques Adaptability and flexibility Collaboration with teachers and staff Basic instructional support skills
