We are committed to nurturing young learners and preparing them for kindergarten success. Position Overview Hooked on Books Childcare is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic GSRP Assistant Teacher to join our preschool team for the 2026-27 school year! Working alongside our GSRP Lead Teacher, you will help create a warm, engaging, and structured learning environment rooted in the HighScope curriculum framework. If you are passionate about early childhood education and making a meaningful difference in the lives of Detroit's youngest learners, we would love to hear from you! Education & Certification Requirements Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field (preferred), or equivalent coursework and experience Child Development Associate (CDA) credential (preferred), or willingness to obtain Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check and fingerprinting Current CPR/First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire Qualifications Prior experience working with preschool-aged children in a childcare or early education setting Familiarity with the HighScope curriculum framework (preferred) Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively with lead teachers, staff, and families Knowledge of early childhood development principles and best practices Organized, dependable, and passionate about early childhood education and the families you serve Commitment to meeting Michigan GSRP and licensing requirements Duties & Responsibilities Support the GSRP Lead Teacher in planning and implementing daily lessons aligned with the HighScope curriculum framework Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning Assist with ASQ screenings and developmental observations to monitor children's progress Support daily classroom routines including plan-do-review, small group activities, and transitions Assist with home visits and parent-teacher conferences twice per year Help maintain accurate and confidential student records, progress notes, and attendance documentation Communicate warmly and professionally with families to encourage active engagement Attend professional development sessions and staff meetings Support early intervention efforts by assisting children who may need additional guidance Follow all Michigan licensing rules and GSRP compliance guidelines To Apply Interested candidates are encouraged to apply through Indeed or send their resume and cover letter to Hooked on Books Childcare is an equal opportunity employer.
