MacDowell Preparatory Academy is seeking a motivated and creative K-5 Paraprofessional who can support enriching each student's classroom curriculum, teaching life skills and nurturing experience and effectively co-teach MPA's established curriculum. Paraprofessional :
Enjoys working as part of a team and is responsive to guidance and direction from the lead teacher Strives to form interpersonal relationships with each student to help them feel more motivated about classroom achievement Has excellent problem-solving dexterity and can communicate with students about their challenges, offering solutions to overcome them will to prepare them for success Utilizes excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills to identify in life Remains friendly and optimistic, providing a positive influence within the classroom and encouraging a welcoming environment
QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to motivate students, promote their self-esteem, and influence their success in every area of their lives. Collaboratively execute, with classroom teachers, intervention plans that produce strong results in student learning Develop organized routines, communicate clear expectations, and scholars enthusiastically learn. Actively engage in professional learning as required to effectively implement interventions Accurately maintain program records as assigned and within due dates Leadership skills and patience for working with students of all levels Operates with strong emotional intelligence Thrives both independently and within a collaborative working environment Maintains a high level of personal and professional integrity Education and Experience Associate's Degree or at least 60 college credit hours Organized, and flexible to work with varied schedules and individual needs Experience working with children in an education setting High level of comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment High quality written and verbal communication skills staff and students High proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook Experience working in a multi-cultural setting preferred relationships. Successful completion of federal and state criminal background checks community engagement Ability to meet educational standards as applicable Ability to work well under pressure as well as effectively prioritize and execute tasks to meet deadlines consistently Understanding of and ability to manage confidential information Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Classroom Support and Student Development Support the implementation of MPA curriculum & instructional practices Assist teacher in implementing lesson plans by providing positive learning experiences, including large or small group instruction and one-on- one tutoring outside instructional time Prepare materials and resources for use in the classroom to assist teachers with preparing for lessons and that support students' learning goals Helps with the planning, preparation, and implementation of projects and activities as directed by the teacher Assist with the maintenance of records of student needs, instructional programs, student progress, preparation of forms, organizing and maintaining files Aide teachers in tracking attendance and grading assignments, quizzes, and summative tests Assist teachers in tracking students' progress during the school year and creating reports to share with parents, ensuring that they understand what their children are learning Empower scholars through programs that help them enhance their social and academic achievements Act as an encouraging and nurturing influence for students during lessons Manage student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe, caring environment throughout all facets of the school program and to provide an optimal learning environment, implementing behavior improvement plans when appropriate Supervise students during non-academic times (i.e. lunch, choice time, recess, teacher planning periods, etc.) Assist with arrival and dismissal, including escorting children to and from cars/buses Participate in all scheduled staff meetings and professional development Maintains flexible daily routines that accommodate changing responsibilities and schedules Other duties as assigned
