This full-time position involves providing personalized support to a student with special needs, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance to thrive academically and socially. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping students overcome challenges and foster an inclusive learning environment. Responsibilities Provide individualized support to students with special needs, assisting them in academic tasks and daily activities. Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs. Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and engagement, reporting any concerns to the supervising teacher or special education coordinator. Assist students in developing social skills and independence, fostering positive peer relationships and self-advocacy. Implement instructional strategies and accommodations as directed by the classroom teacher or special education staff. Provide support during classroom activities, including group work, transitions, and extracurricular activities. Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment, promoting respect and understanding among all students. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education practices. Uphold confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with students, families, and staff members. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in special education or a related field is preferred. Previous experience working with students with special needs in an educational setting is highly desirable. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and colleagues. Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support the learning and development of students with diverse needs. Ability to follow directions, work collaboratively as part of a team, and adapt to changing situations. Basic knowledge of special education laws, practices, and strategies is a plus. Proficiency in technology and willingness to learn new tools and software relevant to special education. CPR and First Aid certification is preferred or must be obtained within a specified timeframe.
