Helps teachers with recordkeeping, preparation for lessons and activities and supervising students. May work with special education students, or work in a school library or computer lab; may be called teacher aide or paraprofessional.

Job Description

This is a grant funded position
Qualifications:
Bachelor's required; MUST hold a certificate or license in Social Work, Counseling, Behavioral Therapy, or other mental health services. Training and experience in conflict resolution preferred Experience working with children and adolescents required Ability to motivate non-traditional learners Ability to act as a role model Demonstrates skill and sensitivity in working with all members of the school community Ability to collaborate effectively with special education staff and student support teams Experience or training in the development and implementation of behavioral interventions preferred
Duties:
Work with identified and eligible students who are "at risk" due to academic, social, emotional, and/or behavioral issues, including conflicts with others at school Develop relationships, interventions, and supports for students experiencing academic, social, emotional, and/or behavioral challenges Provide support to students and staff in self-contained special education classrooms Collaborate with special education staff and student support teams to address student needs and develop appropriate interventions Participate in the development and implementation of Functional Behavioral Analyses (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) Review academic and behavioral goals and make adjustments to interventions and supports as needed Coordinate and monitor behavioral interventions and supports for identified students Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
