Immediately SUMMARY The Special Education paraprofessional is responsible for assisting the classroom teacher with a variety of duties designed to carry out individual student education programs, personal care, and positive behavior support. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
High school graduate or equivalent Prefer two (2) years of successful experience working with students in an educational or daycare environment Paraprofessional qualifications of Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (R340.1793) and include, but are not limited to teacher aides, health care aides, bilingual aides, instructional aides, and program assistants in programs for students with cognitive impairment or severe multiple impairments
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
Assists in daily classroom routines and facilitates students' participation in all activities Implements classroom and/or individual student behavior intervention strategies Ability to plan and implement lessons according to school objectives and needs and abilities of students to whom assigned Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community Ability and desire to work with students with special needs and severe disabilities Must be able to maintain appropriate program and grant documentation Ability to speak clearly and concisely in written and oral communication Demonstrate proficiency in the use of technology and computer skills Regular, reliable and punctual attendance is required Perform other duties deemed necessary and appropriate as assigned Valid driver license
