Monroe, MI Position Overview The Preschool Teacher's Aide is a vital member of the early childhood education team, providing support to the Preschool Teacher and Early Childhood Director. This role focuses on maintaining a safe, nurturing, and spiritually grounded environment for children aged 3 and 4, ensuring compliance with state standards and the mission of the Holy Ghost Lutheran School and Preschool. - Works closely with Lead Preschool Teacher and other Teacher's Aides Key Responsibilities
Instructional Support:
Work directly with the Lead Preschool Teacher and Director to implement educational activities and ensure all applicable standards and rules are met in accordance with the State of Michigan.
Supervision & Safety:
Maintain required teacher-to-student ratios for 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds to ensure a safe learning environment. Facilitate positive interactions between students.
Spiritual Leadership:
Model Christian harmony and character. Set a Christian example for students and colleagues through prayerful cooperation and support.
Classroom Management:
Maintain Christian discipline in love, fostering a classroom culture built on mutual respect and the teachings of the Scriptures.
Communication:
Maintain a positive relationship with staff and students. Assist Lead Preschool Teacher in parent communication via Class Dojo or newsletters. Requirements & Qualifications Age & Education
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required). Preferred Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE).
- Child Development Associate (CDA) or Montessori credential.
- Candidates with significant college credits in ECE-related coursework will also be considered. Certifications & Compliance
- CPR/First Aid Certified (or willing to obtain).
MiRegistry:
Ability to create an account and membership within 30 days of employment.
Professional Development:
Committed to completing at least 16 hours of training per calendar year, including the annual Health and Safety training course via MiRegistry. Faith & Professionalism
Faith:
Ability to perform services according to the Word of God and the confessional standards of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Professionalism:
Determination to work toward greater competence in Christian teaching and to maintain the standards set forth in the Personnel Manual. Schedule Standard Hours
- Scheduled school days, select hours/days Monday through Friday. 8:30am-3:25pm
Note:
Weekly schedules may fluctuate early in the school year based on student enrollment. Once enrollment is finalized, dates and times will remain set. Special Events & Required Attendance
- Occasional evening or weekend events are required, including: ○ Advent Tea ○ Open Houses / Round-up ○ School Activities & Spring Events ○ Awards Nights
- Advanced notice will be provided for any additional events not listed on the official school calendar. Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 35-50 lbs (e.g., lifting a child in an emergency).
- Comfort with frequent bending, kneeling, and sitting on the floor to interact with students.
- Ability to supervise students outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Pay:
$13.73 - $15.00 per hour
