Early Spark Academy & Childcare | Southfield, MI | $16.00 - 18.00/hour Monday-Friday | 7:15 AM - 12:45 PM or Tuesday & Thursday | 7:15 AM - 5:45 PM Early Spark Academy & Childcare is seeking a dependable, flexible, and engaging Support Teacher to join our team. The Support Teacher provides additional support throughout the program based on daily classroom, child, and staffing needs. This position is not assigned to one specific classroom and is ideal for someone who enjoys working with different age groups, collaborating with multiple teaching teams, and stepping in wherever additional support is needed. Responsibilities Provide classroom support as assigned by program leadership Assist teaching teams during transitions, routines, meals, rest time, indoor and outdoor play, and learning experiences Provide additional supervision and support when individual children or classrooms need increased assistance Help maintain safe, engaging, and well-supervised classroom environments Use positive, developmentally appropriate guidance and redirection Engage meaningfully with children through play, conversation, exploration, and daily routines Support children's social-emotional development, communication, independence, and regulation Step into different classrooms and age groups based on program needs Follow classroom routines, individualized strategies, and guidance provided by classroom teachers and leadership Communicate observations and concerns objectively and professionally Maintain respectful, collaborative relationships with children, families, coworkers, and leadership Participate in professional learning, coaching, and feedback Qualifications Experience working with young children in a childcare, preschool, school, or similar setting Ability to work effectively with different age groups and teaching teams Patient, dependable, flexible, and able to adapt as needs change throughout the day Comfortable supporting children with a variety of developmental, behavioral, and communication needs Able to remain calm and responsive during challenging situations Willingness to receive feedback, follow established plans, and work collaboratively Ability to actively engage with children, including sitting on the floor and participating in outdoor experiences Preferred, but not required: CDA or coursework in early childhood education, child development, or a related field Experience supporting children Schedule Monday-Friday | 7:15 AM-12:45 PM or Tuesday & Thursday | 7:15 AM - 5:45 PM Schedule and classroom assignments may vary based on enrollment, staffing, children's needs, and overall program needs.
