The Assistant Teacher works alongside Lead Teachers to provide a safe, loving, engaging, and faith-based environment where every child feels supported and valued. This position requires someone who is willing to work with different age groups, jump in where needed, and be an active and positive member of the CTK team. Responsibilities Assist the Lead Teacher with daily classroom activities, routines, and lesson plans. Provide nurturing, responsive care to children while supporting their individual needs and development. Actively supervise children and follow all Michigan childcare licensing requirements and CTK policies. Engage with children through play, books, music, sensory activities, art, movement, and age-appropriate learning experiences. Support Christian values through kindness, compassion, prayer, Bible stories, and modeling God's love. Assist with diapering, toileting, feeding, nap time, and other daily care routines as appropriate for the classroom. Use positive guidance and redirection to support children's behavior and social-emotional development. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom. Assist with classroom cleaning, sanitizing, and closing/opening responsibilities. Communicate respectfully and professionally with children, families, coworkers, and administration. Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff. Assist with ProCare updates, observations, and classroom documentation as needed. Be willing to work in different classrooms and assist wherever support is needed. Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality. Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development. Support CTK events and the overall mission of the center. Qualifications Previous childcare or early childhood experience preferred. Enjoys working with children from infancy through preschool. Caring, patient, energetic, dependable, and team-oriented. Ability to follow direction and work cooperatively with Lead Teachers and administration. Strong communication and professionalism. CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
