The Chaldean Community Foundation is seeking enthusiastic, dependable Instructional Assistants for its summer program, with positions available in Sterling Heights and West Bloomfield. Instructional Assistants will support certified teachers in delivering high-quality instruction in math, ELA, and enrichment using the Lavinia RISE curriculum. This five-week program will run from June 22-July 24, 2026, operating Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Job Tasks and Responsibilities Support the lead teacher in delivering daily instruction in math, ELA, and enrichment activities. Assist with small group instruction, guided practice, and individualized student support. Help create and maintain an engaging, supportive classroom environment that promotes positive behavior and strong learning habits. Supervise students during academic blocks, transitions, meals, recess, and enrichment activities to ensure safety. Prepare instructional materials, organize classroom resources, and assist with classroom setup and cleanup. Monitor student behavior and provide redirection as needed in alignment with program expectations. Assist with attendance tracking and basic documentation as directed by the lead teacher. Collaborate with teachers and program staff; attend required training and meetings. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Key Competencies Ability to support instruction in elementary math and ELA. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff. Positive approach to student engagement and behavior support. Flexibility, reliability, and willingness to assist in a variety of classroom tasks. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in education or related field preferred. Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred (school, camp, tutoring, or childcare settings). Interest in education, teaching, or youth development strongly preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods during program activities. Frequent movement throughout classroom and program spaces, including walking, bending, and reaching. Ability to lift or carry instructional materials and supplies up to 15 pounds. Ability to operate standard office and classroom equipment.
