Paraprofessional 180 Work Days - (approximately 5 to 6 hours per day)

Job Overview:
The River Valley School District is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Elementary Paraprofessional to support student learning, safety, and well-being in the elementary school setting. The paraprofessional will work closely with classroom teachers, interventionists, and support staff to provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students throughout the school day. In addition to assisting with small groups, benchmark testing, and classroom activities, this role includes supervising students during non-instructional times such as recess and lunch, helping to ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping children grow, demonstrates patience and flexibility, and embodies the district's core values of Responsibility, Respect, Kindness, Innovation, Determination, and Integrity. This position reports directly to the building Principal and works in collaboration with certified teachers, Title teachers, special education staff, and other support personnel to promote student success both in and out of the classroom.
Qualifications:
Required Must have a secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent and one of the following: A. Completed two (2) years study at an institution of higher education; or B. Obtained at least an associate degree; or C. Met a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrates through formal State or local academic assessment of knowledge and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics; or b) reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness as appropriate. Reliable, regular and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position. Preferred ü Has experience working in a school setting ü Has experience and enjoys supervising students and being responsible for their learning environment and safety ü Has experience and enjoys working with school-age children Duties ü Help develop our school culture by modeling, teaching, and reinforcing clear expectations in a firm, fair, and supportive manner that promotes a positive learning environment and student growth ü Work with individual students or small groups to conduct interventions deemed necessary for student learning ü Assist with administration, scoring of benchmark assessments, and progress monitoring assessments ü Keep the teachers informed of student progress or non-progress of individual students ü Assist in supervising students in your charge both inside and outside the classroom, including but not limited to student arrival, recess/lunch supervision, and student dismissal. ü Maintain detailed records and graphs of all students receiving interventions ü Participate in in-service training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as needed ü Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor ü Maintain confidentiality of information (The foregoing statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned or skills that may be required.)
