Activity Lead Oak Grove, Olson and Valley View Middle Schools Hours & Schedule:
During scheduled programming hours, which can range from 2:30-4:45pm, 1-4 days a week, Monday - Thursday This is a part-time, at-will, non-benefited position
Salary:
Class III Range:
$23.06-27.15/hr. based on experience
Required Education:
High School Diploma 60 credits of post-secondary education or passing score on the
Para Pro Exam Required Experience:
18 years or older Experience working as a paraprofessional Experience working with youth with diverse needs including developmental, physical, and/or social-emotional needs Experience working with youth from different socio-economic and racial diverse backgrounds Ability to transport self between work sites
Preferred Experience:
Experience providing academic support to students Spanish, Somali, Pashto, Dari speakers Under the general direction of licensed staff the paraprofessional assists with transitioning students from school day to after school activity programming. Paraprofessionals also provide academic support and support with student behavior, building developmental relationships with students that carry over between school day and extended day programming.
Job Skills and Abilities:
Ability to provide tutoring to students in academic subjects such as reading, writing, math, and other areas. Ability to work with minimal supervision Ability to work as a contributing member of a collaborative team Ability to maintain a safe and supportive environment for staff and students Ability to maturely and appropriately respond to emergencies Ability to make rational decisions based on established policy and procedure Ability to build developmentally appropriate relationships with middle school students Ability to take direction from licensed staff Ability to work with students who have specific academic or behavioral needs to support their success in the program Essential Duties Support licensed staff with providing academic enrichment programming for students Provide academic support to students in subjects such as reading, writing, math, and other areas Work effectively with students serving as a positive role model, and assisting with redirection, proactive and non-exclusionary discipline Create a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for all students Participate in staff training and professional development opportunities Work effectively with students of different ages, abilities, and backgrounds Ensure accurate student attendance Other job duties as assigned or apparent
