Job Description

The primary purpose of this role is to plan for and staff core programming for youth and young families . Th is role reports to the Assistant Rabbi and works closely with the Assistant Cantor/Berman Family Chair in Jewish Learning, the Clergy Assistant and Education Coordinator as well as other clergy, staff and lay leaders. This is a part time non-exempt position from September to May . It averages 20 hours a week plus 3 weekend events per year. Primary hours for this position are: Tuesday 5
  • 10 Friday evenings (about once a month) Saturday 9
  • 1 Sunday 9
  • 12 Jewish holidays Misc hours at own schedule during the week Programs this role supports: USY
  • weekly Tuesday night lounge night, board support, events, shabbatonim , Purim carnival TEN@ Adath (Once a month education program on Tuesday evening for high school students) SMP
  • Saturday Morning education Program for grades 5
  • 12 B'Yachad
  • Sunday morning educatn program for K and Grade 1 HaLev
  • Family programming about once a month, generally on Sundays. Family Friday
  • Friday night shabbat program for families with young children; once a month
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide logistical and tactical support for youth, education, and engagement programs , including United Synagogue Youth (USY), T EN @Adath youth program, B'Yachad , and Shabbat Morning Program (SMP ) education programs, and HaLev programs (young families). This support includes being on-site during the programs, preparing m aterials, food, roll sheets, and snacks, and providing tech support, among other tasks . Coordinate logistics and provide support for youth participants in High Holiday, Shabbat, and holiday family/teen services. Assist clergy in supervision, guidance, and support of teen staff and volunteers. Attend teen and youth events and provide mentorship to USYers , madrichim, and teen staff/volunteers Assist with the planning and execution of Logistics for Purim Carnival S erve as the staff representat ive at USY regional programming , including K allot , K innusim , and Shabbatonim C omplete special Congregational Projects assigned during the year ( i . e . Youth Shabbat)
