SPECIAL EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's degree in related field and training and/or experience as an administrative assistant preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required. 2. Proficiency with software data management, databases, and word processing. 3. Working knowledge of basic office procedures, of equipment operation and of organizational methods. 4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 5. Strong interpersonal skills and work ethic. 6. Experience with or understanding the importance of confidentiality within the workings of a large complex organization.

JOB GOAL
To provide organizational support and clerical assistance to the Special Education Department and other designated staff.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides administrative support services for the Special Education department and designated staff. Provides a welcoming atmosphere, information and assistance to staff, parents and students. Provides information and assistance to staff, parents and students. Provide support to ensure that the Special Education Department complies with State mandated regulations. Create and maintain current student files in multiple software programs. Maintain current department timelines for student IEP's and evaluations. Facilitate student enrollment changes in the software system(s) and communicate specific instructions to the building secretary. Organize, maintain and distribute paper files for Special Education students. Provide authorized information to organizations needing student profiles. Coordinate student transportation. Compile and report data for the purposes of State funding and District planning. Schedule, distribute and file agendas and meeting minutes for meetings. Schedule meetings with staff and parents. Order and distribute Special Education materials, supplies and office equipment. Process invoices and monitor budgets. Assist in building emergency procedures. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
