Under the direction of the Administration, the Behavioral Interventionist serves to provide proactive behavior interventions for students with challenging emotional/behavioral, and social concerns. The behavioral intervention assistant also serves as a resource to effectively support the school's Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) framework. Genesis is the St. Francis Area Schools' Alternative to Suspension program housed at the St. Francis Learning Center. While this position will primarily work with students with special education needs, you may additionally be asked to flex into both the K-6 space, and the 6-12 space.

Summary of Duties:
Genesis is St. Francis Area School's Alternative to Suspension program housed out of the St. Francis Learning Center. The Elementary Behavior Interventionist (BI) works with short to medium term placements; students who are referred from the Elementary level for behavior reasons. The BI will engage students with their schoolwork, restorative practices, and behaviors as needed. Assist administration in providing a Behavior Intervention Program that promotes positive behavior. Identify and report student behavior issues to the appropriate staff. Work closely with school administration, teachers and support staff to decrease behavioral issues. Assist students with problem resolution skills to improve overall student achievement. Monitor attendance and assist students in improving attendance on a daily basis. Actively participates in behavior intervention and PLC meetings Attends IEP meetings as deemed appropriate Attend staff meetings as deemed appropriate Actively participates in professional development Communicates with teachers regarding programs and materials to meet student needs Assists with de-escalating student behaviors and reintegration back into the classroom. Collaborates with teachers, administration, and families to help identify best practices for individual and small groups of students Maintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress Participates in meetings with teachers, administration, and families to discuss student placement and progress Assists in developing, implementing, modeling behavior and Individual Education Plans to meet individual student needs and reinforce learning activities Identifies and seeks resolution for potential problems arising with any involved parties Other duties as assigned.
