This per diem role is perfect for those who thrive in diverse environments and enjoy making a daily impact. With up to 33 schools—mainly elementary—and both 1:1 assignments and classroom aide duties, you'll gain valuable experience while helping students with behavioral needs and implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), including some toileting assistance.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Substitute Certificate on DESE (can be in process, but must be active by start date) Experience in schools working directly with students with behavioral needs Fingerprinting/clearance specific to North Kansas City district required before assignment Comfortable supporting SPED classrooms and adapting to changing daily needs Ability to use a mobile app to select available shifts and manage assignments effectively
Role Responsibilities:
Provide support to teachers and staff in SPED classrooms as either a 1:1 aide or classroom para, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment Assist students with implementing behavioral strategies and daily routines Flexibility to respond to daily contractor call outs at any of the district's schools Communicate efficiently and professionally with staff through the Spindle app for shift selection and details Maintain confidentiality and follow all district protocols for student support Enjoy the flexibility of working 1-5 days per week, with schedules ranging from early mornings to late afternoons based on the assignment type—whether that's elementary, middle, or high school.
