Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
To assist in providing a safe and caring environment where children's natural excitement for exploring, discovering, and learning are nurtured; to provide a good foundation for elementary school, in accordance with each child's ability; and to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.

Mon-Fri (7:30a to 1:30p)
Pay Range:
$16.64 This position requires either a valid Missouri Teacher or Substitute Teacher Certification. Please add a copy of your certification to the application.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists in implementing a program that maintains the preschool philosophy and curriculum
Relates, communicates, and interacts with children with patience and compassion
Interacts effectively with staff and families in the program
Completes 12 hours of in-service each year.
Maintains CPR and First Aid Certification
Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality about students
Performs any other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to assist in providing an encouraging, caring, and safe environment for children
Ability to assist teacher by setting up activities, preparing instructional materials, and documenting student progress
Ability to assists students in physical tasks such as positioning, feeding, toileting, diapering and self-help skills
Ability to assists with individual and small student groups
Ability to assume responsibility, respect, confidentiality and patience and compassion with young children
Ability to assume the responsibilities of the Teacher/Teacher Assistant when the Teacher /Teacher Assistant is absent
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
Ability to judge when situations and/or information should be called to the attention of the supervisor
Ability to learn and implement preschool curricular strategies
Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
Ability to supervise and interact with children on their level (bending, stooping, lifting, and sitting on the floor) across settings as assigned (classroom, playground, gym, lunch, crisis management)
Ability to work in a variety of locations and travel throughout the building(s), including playgrounds, lunch rooms and hallways
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
College credit hours preferred/High School graduate required
Experience working with children in a similar setting preferred
Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position
