Job Overview We are seeking an energetic and responsible Early Childhood Bus Driver/Assistant Teacher to join our team. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to ensure the safe transport of children while supporting their developmental needs through engaging assistance and behavior management. Responsibilities Safely operate school buses and transit vehicles in accordance with traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations Maintain a secure environment by following emergency response procedures for transportation and conducting vehicle inspections before each route Support classroom activities by assisting teachers with behavior management, child supervision, and basic childcare needs during transportation or at the center Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and children to ensure a positive experience for everyone involved Respond quickly to traffic changes or emergencies, executing emergency stop procedures when necessary Uphold all state and local commercial driving laws, school policy knowledge, and passenger safety protocols Requirements Valid commercial driver's license (Class E) with appropriate endorsements for school bus or transit bus operation Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or transit bus operation; experience working with children is highly preferred Knowledge of traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, emergency response procedures for transportation, and transportation safety regulations Certifications in first aid and CPR; ability to respond swiftly in emergency situations Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for wheelchair assistance or loading supplies Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus Strong behavior management skills and experience in childcare or teaching environments Familiarity with student discipline policies and child development principles Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, afternoons, and occasional special events Join our team to make a meaningful difference in children's lives while ensuring their safety on every journey!
Pay:
$16.00 - $17.00 per hour
