Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Step into a dynamic and rewarding contract role supporting students as a Paraprofessional in an engaging academic setting near Independence, MO. This opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful impact in areas where your expertise matters most, with immediate openings across multiple school locations. Open Assignments as of 8/21/26: One Resource Instructional Assistant (IA) at Robinson Elementary. Three opportunities at Northwood School (K-12 All SPED Campus): Two roles in the elementary medically fragile classroom. One position in a secondary classroom primarily serving students with autism.

Desired Skills and Background:

Experience as a Paraprofessional, with a preference for those who have supported medically fragile students and/or students with challenging behaviors. Adaptable and patient, with the ability to respond to varying classroom needs. Comfort working in specialized special education environments, including hands-on, direct care. Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and specialized learning supports. Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit. Dependability and a proactive approach to supporting both teachers and students.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct assistance to students within assigned classrooms, following educational and behavioral plans. Assist medically fragile students with daily care tasks and support their participation in classroom activities. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and school staff to ensure student needs are met. Help implement academic, social, and behavioral interventions. Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment. Adapt strategies and approaches as student needs change throughout the day. District needs are evolving, and new roles become available regularly.
