PART-TIME HEAD START TEACHER ASSISTANT
Render's Hope Day School (RHDS) Independence, Missouri Position Overview Render's Hope Day School is seeking a dependable, caring, and energetic Part-Time Head Start Teacher Assistant to support our preschool classroom. The Teacher Assistant works alongside the Lead Teacher to provide a safe, nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young children, works well as part of a team, and is specifically seeking consistent part-time employment . Key Responsibilities The Teacher Assistant will: Assist the Lead Teacher with daily classroom activities and routines. Help implement developmentally appropriate activities using the HighScope curriculum . Actively engage with children during learning centers, small-group activities, large-group activities, outdoor play, meals, and transitions. Maintain active supervision of children at all times. Support children's social-emotional development and positive behavior using appropriate guidance strategies. Assist with classroom observations and documentation as directed by the Lead Teacher. Help prepare classroom materials and learning activities. Assist children with meals, toileting, handwashing, toothbrushing, rest time, and other daily routines. Help maintain a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming classroom. Follow Head Start, RHDS, health, safety, and program requirements. Communicate professionally and respectfully with children, families, coworkers, and program partners. Participate in required training, coaching, meetings, and professional development. Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
Qualifications Preferred qualifications include:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience working with young children preferred. CDA, Early Childhood Education coursework, or related education is a plus. Willingness to complete required early childhood training and professional development. Ability to successfully complete required background screenings. Ability to meet applicable Missouri childcare and Head Start requirements. Ability to work effectively as part of a teaching team. The Right Person for This Position We are looking for someone who: Wants and is available for consistent part-time employment. Has excellent attendance and arrives to work on time. Is dependable and understands that children and coworkers rely on them to be present. Enjoys being actively involved with children rather than simply supervising from the sidelines. Takes initiative and helps wherever needed. Can follow directions and accept coaching and feedback. Works cooperatively with the Lead Teacher and other staff. Is patient, positive, professional, and caring. Understands the importance of maintaining a safe and appropriately supervised classroom.
