A Teacher Assistant assists classroom teachers by providing extra individual attention and instruction to students. Helps teachers with recordkeeping, preparation for lessons and activities and supervising students. May work with special education students, or work in a school library or computer lab; may be called teacher aide or paraprofessional.
Render's Hope Day School (RHDS) Independence, Missouri Position Overview Render's Hope Day School is seeking a dependable, caring, and energetic Part-Time Head Start Teacher Assistant to support our preschool classroom. The Teacher Assistant works alongside the Lead Teacher to provide a safe, nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children. Key Responsibilities The Teacher Assistant will: Assist the Lead Teacher with daily classroom activities and routines. Help implement developmentally appropriate activities using the HighScope curriculum . Actively engage with children during learning centers, small-group activities, large-group activities, outdoor play, meals, and transitions. Maintain active supervision of children at all times. Support children's social-emotional development and positive behavior using appropriate guidance strategies. Assist with classroom observations and documentation as directed by the Lead Teacher. Help prepare classroom materials and learning activities. Assist children with meals, toileting, handwashing, toothbrushing, rest time, and other daily routines. Help maintain a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming classroom. Follow Head Start, RHDS, health, safety, and program requirements. Communicate professionally and respectfully with children, families, coworkers, and program partners. Participate in required training, coaching, meetings, and professional development. Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
Qualifications Preferred qualifications include:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience working with young children preferred. CDA, Early Childhood Education coursework, or related education is a plus. Willingness to complete required early childhood training and professional development. Ability to successfully complete required background screenings. Ability to meet applicable Missouri childcare and Head Start requirements. Ability to work effectively as part of a teaching team.
