This position is in the Tanks Section of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and will be located at 1730 East Elm, Jefferson City, Missouri . This position provides the opportunity to travel the State of Missouri and interact with underground tank owners/operators and contractors to ensure environmental compliance. You will work independently and with an amazing team of dedicated staff. Responsibilities - What you'll do Conduct and review compliance and out-of-use inspections of underground storage tank facilities to ensure compliance with laws and regulations. Conduct inspection and review of new installation of underground storage tanks to ensure proper installation, testing, and registration of the new systems. Provide technical assistance to underground storage tank owners, providing clear communications, both written and oral, in the form of reports, electronic communications, and on-site visits to support compliance and enforcement efforts. Investigation of citizen or program concerns involving underground storage tanks to determine if releases or other violations are occurring. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications - All you need for success To be successful in this position, a candidate will need the following skills :

Compliance:
Knowledge of procedures for assessing, evaluating, and monitoring programs or projects for compliance with Federal laws, regulations, and guidance.
Oral and Written Communication:
Expresses information (for example ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, considering the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Self-Management:
Sets well-defined and realistic personal goals; displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner; works with minimal supervision; is motivated to achieve; demonstrates responsible behavior.
Mechanics:
Knowledge of machines and tools including their design, installation, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance. Equivalent to those typically gained by : A bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, natural resources, physical science, or a closely related field, and 0-4 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed).
Special Working Requirements :
Maintain a valid Missouri State Driver's license. Ability to work 7:30 am to 4:30 pm with a flexible schedule to meet inspection schedules and other deadlines. Requires regular and frequent statewide travel for inspections, investigations, and meetings. Periodic overtime and infrequent overnights may be required to conduct field work. Ability to lift/maneuver up to 50 pounds, long periods of standing, and frequent bending. Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
