Applicants eligible for years-of-service adjustments or shift differentials may exceed salary range listed above. This position is in the Tanks Section of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and will be located at 1730 East Elm, Jefferson City, Missouri . Responsibilities - What you'll do Review technical documents that depict the characterization of petroleum contamination in the soil and groundwater. Evaluate submitted risk assessment reports to determine if contamination poses a risk to human health or the environment. Determine if corrective actions are needed to mitigate unacceptable risks. Prepare written documentation (reports, correspondence, letters, administrative orders, etc.) of compliance findings, status, and corrective actions. Maintain and collect data and documentation as it relates to tracking and monitoring compliance of risk assessment and cleanup. Perform other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications - All you need for success To be successful in this position, a candidate will need the following skills :
Environmental Science:
Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods to protect and improve the quality of the environment and its resources; and to monitor, control, abate, and prevent pollutants.
Risk Management:
Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools used for risk assessment and mitigation, including assessment of failures and their consequences.
Planning and Evaluating:
Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements; determines short- or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes.
Oral and Written Communication:
Expresses information (for example ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, considering the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Equivalent to those typically gained by : A bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, natural resources, physical sciences, or a closely related field, and 0-4 years of relevant experience (substitutions may be considered). Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
