Job Description

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area. Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary The Teacher Aide I supports the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, faith-centered, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children in the Early Childhood Learning Center. The aide assists with classroom activities, supervision, daily routines, and implementation of educational and Catholic values-based programs.

Job Responsibilities Assist the Lead Teacher with daily classroom instruction and activities. Supervise children during classroom, playground, lunch, rest, and transition times. Help prepare classroom materials, learning centers, and instructional resources. Support children's social, emotional, physical, and spiritual development. Reinforce positive behavior and classroom expectations. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment. Assist with toileting, handwashing, meals, and other personal care needs as appropriate. Participate in faith-based activities, prayer, and religious celebrations consistent with Catholic teachings. Communicate respectfully and professionally with staff, parents, and children. Observe and report student concerns, incidents, or developmental issues to the Lead Teacher or Director. Follow all diocesan, state licensing, and safety regulations. Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development as required. Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher or ECLC Director. Job Requirements Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required. Coursework or experience in early childhood education preferred. Experience working with young children in a childcare, preschool, or educational setting preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work effectively with young children. Basic understanding of child development and classroom management. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Supportive of the mission and values of the Catholic Church.
