Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type All Job Types ASL Paraprofessional / Instructional Assistant Soliant is seeking a compassionate and dependable ASL Instructional Assistant to support an elementary-aged student for the upcoming school year. This rewarding 1:1 position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact by helping a student who is deaf or hard of hearing fully engage in classroom instruction, social interactions, and daily school activities. If you're passionate about working with children, comfortable communicating through American Sign Language, and eager to be part of a collaborative school team, we'd love to hear from you. Formal ASL certification is not required. Position Details
  • 30 hours per week
  • Elementary school setting
  • Dedicated 1:1 student support
  • On-site position
  • 2026-2027 school year
  • Competitive pay: $19-$25 per hour, based on experience Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide direct communication and classroom support using American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, peers, and support staff
  • Assist with academic activities, assignments, and classroom participation
  • Support implementation of IEP accommodations and educational goals
  • Encourage student independence, engagement, and positive peer interactions
  • Assist with daily routines, transitions, and social-emotional development
  • Collaborate with the educational team to support student success
  • Help foster a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive learning environment Qualifications
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience working with children preferred
  • School-based experience is a plus
  • Experience supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing is beneficial
  • Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills
