August 10, 2026 Job Summary Currituck County Schools is seeking an Instructional Teaching Assistant to serve as a positive mentor and advocate, supporting students in developing the executive functioning, organizational, and academic skills necessary for success in middle school. The TA provides instructional support, monitors student progress, reinforces organizational systems and helps students build independence, accountability, and confidence in their learning. Responsibilities Support instruction in organization, study skills, executive functioning, time management, goal setting, and other academic success strategies that promote student achievement and independence. Provide individual and small-group support to reinforce academic and organizational skills. Assist students with planning, task initiation, prioritization, and assignment completion. Monitor student progress, missing assignments, academic performance, and goal attainment. Encourage positive work habits, self-advocacy, perseverance, and personal responsibility. Communicate student needs and progress with teachers and support staff. Foster a positive, structured learning environment that promotes student success and confidence. Goal of the Position To support students in developing the academic and organizational skills necessary to become independent, responsible, and successful learners. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 48 semester hours of college coursework or Associate's degree required. Prior experience working with children or in an educational setting is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff. Basic knowledge of child development and instructional strategies.
