K-4Instructional Assistant Position Overview:
The K-4 Instructional Assistant supports the EC classroom teacher in creating a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment for Special Education. Instructional Assistants work closely with teachers to support instruction, assist with classroom management, and provide additional academic support to individual students and small groups. This role is essential in helping ensure that students receive the attention and support they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Support Assist the classroom teacher in implementing daily lessons and learning activities. Work with small groups of students or individual students to reinforce academic skills in reading, writing, and math. Support differentiated instruction by helping students who need additional guidance or practice. Help prepare instructional materials, learning centers, and classroom resources. Support students during independent work, guided practice, and hands-on activities. Student Supervision and Classroom Support Help maintain a safe, respectful, and well-managed classroom environment. Support the teacher in reinforcing classroom expectations and positive behavior. Assist with transitions throughout the school day including arrival, dismissal, and movement between activities. Supervise students during recess, lunch, field trips, and other school activities as needed. Student Development Provide encouragement and positive reinforcement to help build student confidence and independence. Support students' social and emotional development by modeling kindness, patience, and respect. Help students stay focused and engaged in classroom activities. Collaboration and Communication Work closely with the classroom teacher and grade-level team to support instructional goals. Communicate student needs or concerns to the teacher in a timely manner. Participate in staff meetings or training sessions as requested. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality regarding student information. Professional Responsibilities Demonstrate reliability, flexibility, and a positive attitude. Support the school's mission, values, and expectations for students. Follow school policies and procedures. Assist with other duties as assigned to support the school community.Qualifications:
High school diploma required; associate degree or coursework in education preferred. Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff. Patience, organization, and a passion for supporting young learners.Physical Requirements:
Ability to move throughout the classroom and school campus. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and actively assist students throughout the day. Ability to supervise students in both indoor and outdoor environments.Work Environment:
This position works in a classroom setting with young children. The role requires flexibility, patience, and the ability to support a fast-paced elementary school environment while helping students feel safe, supported, and encouraged to learn.Pay:
