Posting Details Position Information Job Title Instructor, Physical Therapist Assistant - Adjunct Full Time/Part Time Part-time Job Description Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. They will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation, and interest in the total affairs of the college. Duties/Functions Teaching Prepare and teach departmental courses to include: updating course syllabi developing learner centered lesson plans employing teaching strategies and instructional materials for different learning styles developing appropriate assessment methods staying current in teaching discipline seeking professional development opportunities Administration Provide daily and ongoing oversight of facilities and equipment to include: maintaining classroom and lab spaces upkeep and care of equipment as assigned Student Support Provide an environment conducive to student success to include: addressing student concerns assisting students to develop strategies for success referral of students to campus and community resources. Institutional Support Support college-wide endeavors to include: complying with college, state, and federal rules and regulations. Demonstrate and model the PTA Department's professional skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility and teamwork.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain student records. Perform all duties as assigned by the supervisor. Difficult Challenges Contacts Education Required The adjunct faculty member will have the educational background needed to meet accreditation/approval, certification, and departmental requirements, as follows: 1.
Educational level:
Bachelor's degree or higher in physical therapy or Associate degree in Applied Science as a physical therapist assistant (with a bachelor's degree in a health-related field preferred) 2.
Certifications:
Licensure in North Carolina as a physical therapist or a physical therapist assistant Education Preferred Minimum of two years of experience as a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant Physical therapy experience in teaching area Experience Required Experience Preferred Community College teaching or training experience preferred KSA Required The Instructor shall possess an understanding of and commitment to the nature and role of the Community College, particularly its "open door" policy. They shall have demonstrated personal and professional competence for the responsibilities assigned. The Instructor must be able to: 1. Multi-task 2. Support the Vision and Mission of the College 3. Adapt to changing procedures, protocols or assignments. 4. Create and maintain a learner centered environment 5. Communicate effectively KSA Preferred Department/Job Specific Requirements Satisfactory completion of any mandatory GTCC Trainings (upon initial hire and annual updates as required; other required trainings may be added as needed) within prescribed timeline. Failure to complete required trainings can result in loss of present and/or potential future teaching opportunities. Physical Demands 1. Stand for extended periods of time (up to 4 hours) 2.
