Teacher Assistants Job Summary:
Currituck County Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate MTSS Teaching Assistant to support the district's overall Multi-Tiered System of Supports framework by assisting with academic and behavioral initiatives that promote student success. This role works collaboratively with staff to help ensure students receive the support, structure, and resources needed to thrive.
Responsibilities:
Assist with organizing materials, resources, and routines that help maintain effective intervention systems. Maintain accurate, organized notes or documentation related to student support activities. Assist with universal screening, progress checks, or other schoolwide data-collection routines as directed. Perform clerical duties as needed in relation to preparing intervention lessons. Support the implementation of academic or behavioral strategies designed to strengthen student growth. Collaborate with teachers, interventionists, and support staff to reinforce consistent schoolwide practices and to ensure students receive timely, evidence-aligned support that promotes growth and closes skill gaps. Contribute to communication and coordination among staff to ensure students receive timely support. Attend training, workshops, and meetings as required.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 48 semester hours of college coursework or Associate's degree required. Prior experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff. Basic knowledge of child development and instructional strategies.
