Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Teaching Assistant to join our educational team. In this vital role, you will support classroom teachers in creating an engaging, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment for students with diverse needs. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help foster student growth, promote positive behavior, and ensure that every learner receives the personalized attention they deserve. Responsibilities Assist in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) and curriculum plans tailored to students with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities. Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior, applying behavior management techniques, and maintaining a structured learning environment. Provide physical assistance and classroom support for students with special education needs, including mobility support and sensory accommodations. Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to develop lesson plans that incorporate literacy education, math, early childhood development, and Montessori or preschool methodologies. Use American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication skills to facilitate effective interaction with students who have communication challenges. Support students during classroom activities, including childcare routines, Toddler care, and preschool experiences. Handle confidential information responsibly while documenting student progress and behavior incidents accurately. Experience Prior classroom experience supporting children or students with disabilities is highly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of childhood development principles, early childhood education practices, and classroom management strategies. Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders or behavioral disorders supporting their social-emotional growth. Familiarity with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) guidelines and special education laws such as IEP development and implementation. Background in literacy education, basic math instruction, or curriculum development for young learners is advantageous. Strong communication skills for collaborating effectively with educators, parents, and specialists. Previous experience in private school settings or preschool environments is a plus but not required.
