Position Summary Southern Pines Academy is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Assistant Two-Year-Old Teacher who is passionate about supporting children during an exciting stage of growth and development. The Assistant Two-Year-Old Teacher works alongside the Lead Teacher to provide a safe, structured, and engaging classroom where children can build independence, develop language skills, strengthen social-emotional skills, and explore the world through purposeful play. The ideal candidate enjoys working as part of a team, uses positive guidance techniques, and is committed to providing exceptional care and education every day. Responsibilities Assist the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment. Support the implementation of developmentally appropriate lesson plans and hands-on learning activities. Encourage children's language, social-emotional, physical, and cognitive development through intentional interactions and play. Foster independence by encouraging children to participate in self-help skills such as handwashing, cleaning up, feeding themselves, and dressing. Assist with potty training, diapering, and other personal care routines while maintaining each child's dignity and comfort. Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, rest time, and transitions. Help prepare classroom materials, learning centers, and activities. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment. Complete assigned classroom documentation and daily reports. Build positive relationships with children, families, and fellow staff members through professional communication. Follow all North Carolina DCDEE licensing regulations and Southern Pines Academy policies. Collaborate with the Lead Teacher and administration to maintain a high-quality early learning environment. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Current North Carolina DCDEE Qualification Letter. EDU 119 (or willingness to obtain if required by licensing). One year of experience in a licensed childcare center preferred. Experience working with toddlers or young children. Ability to lift, carry, and actively supervise children throughout the day. Ability to meet all
