Starts at $17.26 and is based on related experience Crete Public Schools is seeking applications for a special education para educator to begin immediately. Benefits include 76% paid single health insurance, long-term disability insurance, and sick and personal leave. This position is open until filled.Essential Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED and either an associate's degree, two years of college, or a passing score on a state or local assessment that demonstrates their ability to assist with instruction in reading, writing, and math Satisfactory completion of criminal background check Work well with children and co-workers First aid knowledge preferred, but not required Bilingual preferred, but not requiredJob Tasks:
Provide assistance to students with special needs, non-English-speaking students, students with physical and mental disabilities, or other students as assigned. Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers. Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums, or on field trips. Enforce administration policies and rules governing students. Observe students' performance and record relevant data to assess progress. Discuss assigned duties with classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts. Present subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers, using lectures, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods. Organize and label materials and display students' work in a manner appropriate for their eye level and perceptual skills. Distribute tests and homework assignments and collect them when they are completed. Use computers, audio-visual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations. Attend staff meetings and serve on committees, as required. Prepare lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations. Carry out therapeutic regimens such as behavior modification and personal development programs, under the supervision of special education teachers, psychologists, speech-language pathologists or other professionals. Provide disabled students with assistive devices, supportive technology, and assistance accessing facilities such as restrooms. Assist in bus loading and unloading. Maintain computers in classrooms and laboratories and assist students with hardware and software use. Serve as a role model to all students. Serve as a positive member of the community in a way that does not negatively affect the District's reputation or image in the community. Refrain from engaging in conduct that interferes with the operations of the District, including the education of students. Develop and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with other staff and administration. Adhere to all District policies, rules, regulations, and supervisory directives. Maintain confidentiality of information concerning staff, students, and parents in accordance with law and District rules. Adhere to the code of ethics of the District and the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE Rule 27).FLSA Exempt Status:
