Position:
Health Paraeducator (3 positions available)
Location:
District Wide (High School, Bell Field, Howard with possible travel between school locations as needed)
Schedule:
7.5 hours per day,
Student Days Position Available:
Start August, 2026 with some training possible prior to start date

Compensation:
$19.52
  • $21.41 per hour, starting, depending on experience. If bilingual (English/Spanish) $21.41
  • $23.
53 per hour, starting, depending on experience.

DESCRIPTION

REQUIREMENTS
Education Level:
High School Diploma or GED Post secondary training desired.
Certification/Licensure:
Current First Aid/CPR/AED preferred, but not required CNA, CMA, or LPN preferred, but not required Drivers License
Experience Desired:
Working with children/students and/or health occupation Experience in medical or care giving settings is highly desirable
Other Requirements:
Effective oral and written communication skills Basic computer literacy Understanding of basic reading and math skills Successful completion of District training and competencies
REPORTS TO
School nurse, Building Administrator, and Director of Support Services. Receives assignments, guidance, and training from School Nurse.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions of each employee's position includes (1) regular, dependable in-person attendance on the job; (2) the ability to perform the identified tasks and to possess and utilize the identified knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the identified work activities; and (3) the ability to perform the physical requirements on their specific job description.
Basic:
Perform health/medical care procedures under the supervision of an RN. Dispenses medication, provides necessary medical/health care including but not limited to suctioning, tube feeding, decompressing and clean catheterization. Provides supervision as necessary/directed for students. Abides by the guidelines established for paraeducators of the State of Nebraska and the District.

Demonstrates the ability and willingness to perform and fulfill assigned duties as designated by the supervisor(s) Assists with any clerical and daily organizational duties Attends professional development meetings and workshops as requested Respects the confidentiality of information about students and communicates progress or concerns about students to parents or staff only with the authorization of the supervisor Exhibits a positive working relationship with students, staff and visitors Follows all rules and regulations relating to school and district policies Assists with the physical and health needs of students including but not limited to: first aid, feeding, toileting, transferring, positioning, medication administration and other special health and personal care needs when applicable Assists in the provision of physical and occupational therapy exercises for students under the supervision and/or direction of OT and/or PT Provides support services to the school nurse Aids with health screening programs May require traveling between buildings as assigned Performs other duties as assigned by the supervising school nurse and/or administrative staff
