Aug 7, 2026 Job Description The Middle School (Madison and Adams) ELL Paraprofessional supports English Language Learners (ELLs) in developing English language proficiency and achieving academic success. The paraprofessional works under the direction of certified teachers to provide instructional support, facilitate communication, and assist students in accessing grade-level curriculum while fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Student Support Provide instructional support to English Language Learners in individual, small-group, and classroom settings. Reinforce lessons and language development activities designed by certified teachers. Assist students with understanding assignments, directions, and classroom expectations. Support students in developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English. Encourage student engagement, independence, and self-advocacy. Classroom Assistance Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom resources. Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers regarding academic and language development. Help maintain a positive, safe, and orderly learning environment. Support accommodations and modifications identified in student learning plans. Communication and Collaboration Collaborate with classroom teachers, ELL staff, counselors, and administrators to support student success. Assist with communication between school and families when appropriate and under staff supervision. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training opportunities as assigned. Student Supervision Supervise students during instructional periods and other assigned school activities. Assist with student transitions throughout the school day. Monitor behavior and reinforce school expectations. Record Keeping Maintain confidentiality of student records and information. Assist with documentation and data collection related to student progress as directed. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Meet Nebraska paraprofessional requirements, including any applicable certification or permit requirements. Ability to work effectively with students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Preferred Associate degree or coursework in education, language acquisition, or related field. Experience working with middle school students. Experience supporting English Language Learners. Bilingual proficiency in English and another language. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Understanding of second-language acquisition principles. Ability to follow instructional plans and teacher direction. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families. Ability to use educational technology and learning platforms. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry instructional materials up to 25 pounds. Ability to perform duties within a school environment. Terms of Employment Start date is August 7th, 2026 - Last day is May 13, 2027 Evaluation conducted in accordance with district procedures. Sample Performance Expectations Supports language acquisition and academic growth of ELL students. Demonstrates positive relationships with students and staff. Maintains confidentiality and professional ethics. Collaborates effectively with teachers and families. Contributes to a welcoming and inclusive school culture.
