95 ~ Glen Lake School houses Goffstown's youngest students, from preschool through kindergarten. The team at Glen Lake is dedicated to early childhood education and developmentally appropriate practice. Paraprofessionals at Glen Lake perform a wide range of duties, including but not limited to diapering; toileting assistance; toilet training support; communication support using limited language, signs, visuals and communication devices; behavior support including utilizing visuals, self-regulation support, behavior reinforcement, and implementation of behavior plans; support for learning tasks in the large and small group and individual formats; and support for student safety from arrival through dismissal. Our students span ages 3-6 and we serve many students with special needs. Many of our young students have little to no safety awareness. Paraprofessionals must be physically able to keep up with quick students to keep them safe, get up and down from working with very small students on the floor, and handle the physical demands of diapering and assisting small students with self-care and classroom tasks. Paraprofessionals must be able to communicate using a "low and slow" approach even, and especially, when students are dysregulated. Mentoring and training will be made available to a willing and capable new team member.
